I was approached by Urban Jungle Bloggers to create a sphere that reflected the crystal chapter of their ‘Plant Tribe’ book. Once thought to be ice that had been frozen for so long that it would never unfreeze, QUARTZ is not just an homage to the icy worlds of our solar system. But a sign of our unique strength and power.
It started with a trip to the local gem store. Searching for inspiration, my fingers found their way to the soft, cool touch of what is known locally as, bergkrstall. Quartz is believed to have immense healing properties. It is said to be the most significant power strengthening crystal known. I wondered, would plants grown here grow stronger and healthier? Perhaps, perhaps not, but I wanted to try nonetheless.
Rather than have the beauty and form of this wonderful be hidden when paired with a light sphere, I brought out its translucent beauty coupled with the dark, smooth, round edges of the planter’s sides. A classic beauty was born.
